In the second half of the 19th century, Nowy Świat became a very animated street with many shops and cafes. Completely destroyed during World War II. After the war, the acient fasades partially rebuilt and houses of an indefinite style were raised. Many places recall its residents, among them: L. Staff, K. Szymanowski, J. Tuwim.
